Getting here
With so many handy types of transport available today, visiting Langkawi has never been easier. There are no direct flights to the island from Europe. Most European flights will arrive at Kuala Lumpur and from the airport you can take an internal flight for the short hop to Langkawi. Alternatively there are ferry services from both Thailand and other Malaysian ports. Many visitors swarm the Kuah Jetty after boarding ferries from the mainland.
Flying
Langkawi boasts an International Airport, located 20 km (12.4 miles) away in Padang Matsirat.
Malaysian Airlines (MAS) and Air Asia operate daily flights to Langkawi from Kuala Lumpur. International travellers from London can connect with MAS flights directly.
Air Asia is the airborne version of a budget local minibus, the nearest thing we have to this in the UK is Ryan Air or EasyJet. Visitors from Singapore can use Silk Air which also flies directly to Langkawi daily.

If you don’t mind crowds and are travelling on a tight budget the many ferry services will be for you. The ferries operate four routes to Langkawi from Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis, Penang and Satun in Thailand around the clock.
